2016 CFL Coaching Vacancy Tracker

Not too long ago (the start of the 2012 season) the four men pictured above were entering their rookie season as head coaches. Now, as we enter the off-season between the 2015 and 2016 seasons only Milanovich remains in the same position as Head Coach of the Argos.

Since that time, Cortez has coached for two different teams and has since retired. Chamblin won a Grey Cup in 2013 with the Riders and is currently without a coaching job as he prepares for his next move and Benevides seems chomping at the bit to throw his hat back in the ring to potential CFL employers after serving in a part time role as an analyst for TSN.

As the old saying goes this "is a great game but a ________ business." This applys to both players and coaches alike as job security in the business of pro sports is not something that will motivate one to get into coaching.

Below is a team by team look at the publically known coaching vacancies in the CFL for the 2016 season. However, it must be stated that this is a rough outline of a list as we cannot know exactly what is going on behind the scenes. Track your teams and coaches to see where they land.

B.C. Lions: Offensive Co-ordinator and the pending moves that will deem necessary, Special Teams Co-ordinator.

Calgary Stampeders: Defensive Co-ordinator and the pending moves that will deem necessary.

Edmonton Eskimos: All coaching positions vacant as Chris Jones and staff leaves to Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan Roughriders: Chris Jones named V.P. of Football Operations, General Manager, Head Coach and Defensive Co-ordinator. All Edmonton staff expected to come to the Riders.

Winnipeg Bluebombers: Paul Lapolice hired as Offensive Co-ordinator. More details to come on offensive coaching positions. Also Special Teams Co-ordinator.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats: Currently no public vacancies.

Toronto Argonauts: One must assume until it is announced differently that all defensive coaching position except the Defensive Co-ordinator are vacant since the hiring of Rich Stubler.
